Intertextuality in Jamie T's Zombie music video
When analysing Jamie T’s music video for zombie that was
released on the 11th August 2014, the first piece of intertextuality
was title of the song, the title makes the audience immediately think of the ‘horror’
genre. As the music video continued, a sense of comedy was added which linked
to the film ‘Shaun of The Dead’. The intertextuality linked ideas between the
film and this new music video, this is due to many elements that are similar
such as the setting which is in a pup. When comparing this to the film, you
know that it is set in a pub called ‘The Winchester’ and old rustic pub like
the one in the music video. Even the film (Shaun of The Dead) itself is made entirely
of intertextuality as it is based on previous zombie/horror films.
Another factor of this music video that links to the film
Shaun of The Dead, is the one armed guitarist/bassist as one of the zombie in
the film also has one arm and mover in the same way, they also look similar.
